Audi Australia offers customers a capped price servicing plan that it labels the Audi Genuine Care Service Plan.

The plan spans five years/75,000km, which means service intervals of every 12 months/15,000km across a range of different models. You used to be able to choose a three-year/45,000km Genuine Service Care Plan from Audi, but the brand scrapped it due to a higher take-up on the longer duration offer.

You’ll need to pay the entire rate at the outset if you want your new car to come with Audi’s capped price plan. The way the German maker has structured its plan means it's simple to add the cost of maintenance to the price of the car when you sign on the dotted line, allowing customers to break those costs into smaller instalments as they pay the vehicle off, as it can be rolled into the finance paperwork.

As you'll see in the table below, the smaller the car, the less it'll cost to maintain. An A1 should be more affordable to own than an A7, after all.

The Audi R8 supercar is not covered by the capped price plan, though it does attract three years of complimentary maintenance from the showroom.

Further, the Audi e-tron electric SUV and Sportback models are not covered, as they come with a six-year servicing plan included at the time of purchase.

Prices for some Audi service plans have been adjusted slightly across the range at the time of publishing.

Five years of capped price servicing is good for a premium brand. And while Audi’s intervals are reasonable, the costs are high on some models. 7/10

If you’re curious about annual service costs, see our detailed table below which sets out the specifics of the cost per service for each of the applicable models, and also the intervals at which maintenance needs to be performed.

A sedan feels classic, yes, but also fun, and you know what? The kids can fit in here too.

It’s the Audi A4 and I test drove the 45 TFSI quattro S line which is the top-of-the-range (before the sporty models) and costs $68,900 before on-road costs and extras.

It’s not alone, it competes with cars like BMW 3 series and Mercedes C-Class.

This Audi A4 45 TFSI quattro S line costs $69,800, before on road costs and extras. The extras in this car included the 'S Line Package' ($2730) and the Assitance Plus Package ($3770) along with the 'Carbon and black package' ($3770) and metallic paint ($1990). Which comes to a grand total of $81,160, before on road costs.

Fuel consumption is a claimed 7.2L/100km and I averaged 9.2L/100km for the week.

It’s covered by Audi’s three-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with servicing required every 12 months or 15,000km.

The Audi A4 45 TFSI quattro S tronic S line is a beautiful car to drive and served my family of four well this week. We fit neatly inside, it has decent boot space, it looks fabulous and has good safety and technology.
